The Tower Bridge

This is the famous Tower Bridge which is a combined bascule and suspension bridge. It consists of two towers which are tied together at the upper level by means of two horizontal walkways which are designed to withstand the horizontal forces exerted by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers.

Tower Bridge is situated in London, England, over the River Thames.
3. Why do tourists visit this place?
It is an iconic symbol of the city of London. It looks great, especially at night when it's well illuminated - a real achievement of Victorian engineering. Views from atop the Tower Bridge London are incredible, and the windows have even been designed to allow tourists to take pictures from behind the glass without interference.

It is close to the Tower of London, which gives it its name. Tower Bridge is often mistakenly referred to as London Bridge, which is actually the next bridge upstream.

The best-known bridge in London (London Bridge) is now in the middle of the Arizona desert! When the new London Bridge was built in 1973, an Arizona man saw an opportunity and bought the old one, that had been built in 1831, for $2.4 million.
7. How a design was chosen for the bridge?
The big problem for the Corporation of London was how to build a bridge downstream from London Bridge without disrupting river traffic activities. To get as many ideas as possible, the "Special Bridge or Subway Committee" was formed in 1876, and opened the design of the new crossing to public competition.
Over 50 designs were put forward for consideration, some of which you can see when you visit the Tower Bridge Exhibition. However, it wasn't until October 1884 that Horace Jones, the City Architect, in collaboration with John Wolfe Barry, offered the chosen design for Tower Bridge as a solution.

i think London is an event attraction as it host a lots of events and activity for example, Olympic 2011.

London is also a cultural attraction (for MUSIC) as it is one of the major classical and popular music capitals of the world
